BRAZOS VALLEY CHAPTER

TEXAS MASTER NATURALIST PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Texas Master Naturalist. The Brazos Valley Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist has openings for enrollment in its fall, 2012 class. The exact dates for the classes are being determined still, but typically begin in early September. Please check back here as these details are forthcoming!

The Texas Master Naturalist Program, sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service-Brazos County and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, has been established to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers who provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities.

The program has three components: basic training, volunteer service, and advanced training. Basic training is accomplished by attending forty hours of class taught by various experts in such fields as ornithology, herpetology, habitats, eco regions, and many others. Volunteer service hours are obtained through chapter projects in the community. Numerous advanced training opportunities for members occur throughout the year for year-long learning.

An application packet for the 2012 Basic Training Class will be made available soon as well as the class schedule.
