Volunteering (service) and providing education to improve and preserve our environment are the reasons our chapter exists.  Please see the list of projects below for opportunities that might be of interest to you.  In order for a project to appear on this page, it must, previously have been approved by the Central Texas Chapter Committee; you may obtain a copy of the approval request form through the Member Resources area of this web site.

  • June 21, AgriLife Sport Fishing Camp, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Austin; you must be Angler Education certified to help. If you can help, contact Ursula Nanna

  • Saturday, July 7, Nolan Creek Hike and Bike Trail, Belton, Butterfly Count. Please let Mary Ann know if you can participate.

  • Seeds are ready for harvesting at Loop 363 and Berger Rd in North Temple (just off I-35). This is the same general area we did the plant rescue earlier in April. Hyacinth seeds are ready at this time; celestial seeds will be ready by the coming week. Gardenia seeds are ready on the west side of I-35. TXDOT is not working the site at this time, so you can collect just about anytime – use caution as this is a high traffic area. You might coordinate with Mary Ann, Lynn, or JoAnne.

  • July 30, 2012, CTMN is partnering with the Belton Parks and Recreation Department. We have adopted the Nolan Creek Hike and Bike Trail and will be picking up trash along it on the following dates: July 30, October 29, and December 31. If you are planning on attending, please let Mary Ann know. You might want to bring gloves (trash bags will be provided); also needed is someone to take pictures! We will meet in the Park and Ride parking lot off the south bound I-35 access road at 8:00 a.m.
