VOL – Stormwater Wetland Thursday

May 7, 2015 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

We will meet in the nursery to continue bumping up the spider lily babies from 4” pots to 1 gallon pots, and dividing lizard tail.

The nursery is near 1801 Neptune Lane, Clear Lake City (Houston) 77062. Park along the street near the bridge (from which you can see the nursery) and take the northeast trail.

Last week:

We potted up 200 Powdery alligator flag/Thalia dealbata, which finishes off the stocks we collected in Brazoria County. That makes a total of 464 Thalia added to the nursery from the April 9 collection trip.  We also “bumped up” 110 spider lilies to larger pots and potted some local sedges Chris is investigating. Thank you Ray, Lydia, Nancy, Martha, Jerry, and Chris for your good work!

Finally, we said goodbye to Cullen as he prepared to jump over to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. We will certainly miss him come Thursday morning!

Upcoming dates:

May 14: Nursery work and local collecting trip TBA

May 21: Nursery work and local collecting trip TBA

Stay tuned for a date to do touch up planting at the Pearland floating wetlands, and a rescheduling of the Exploration Green Earth Day and nursery open houses.

Thanks for your participation!
