BISD Outdoor Learning Center Events, April 30-May 3

It’s time to share your expertise with 6th graders from the Brenham Independent School Districts.  If you can help with the outdoor classroom on April 30, May 1, May 2 or May 3, please contact Margaret Lamar.

TMN-GLC Class of 2012 Graduation, May 7, 6pm

Join the celebration and welcome the 2012 class into the chapter.  This is always a special day for the chapter as we expand to include the latest master naturalists as members of the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist program.

Lincecum Chapter Program and Business Meeting, May 19

The business meeting will begin at 9 am.  We will have a special guest, Mr. Derin DePalermo, Park Superintendent of Stephen F. Austin State Park.  He will talk to us about volunteer opportunities.  Bring your lunch.  There will be time between the business meeting and the program to socialize and eat lunch.

The program at noon will be on Weather and Water.  Dr. Paul Fahrenthold, a professional engieneer and chemist will talk about global warming.  Dr. Fahrenthold has over 40 years in environmental engineering, including several years with the EPA.

In addition, to Dr. Fahrenthold, Ms. Kristine Uhlman from the AgriLife Extension Services will talk about protecting groundwater quality and aquifer integrity.  She is the Program Specialist supporting the Texas Well Owner Network, a science-based, comunity-responsive education program.

The meeting and program will be at the Meadows Conference Center, Winedale, Texas.

MultiCounty New Landowner Education Program

This series of seminars and field days are designed to educate new landowners in Austin, Colorado, Fayette and Washington Counties.  All programs begin at 1:30pm and will be held at various times throughout the year.  A list of locations and topics are as follows:

  • Forage Production, May 18, Austin County
  • Weed and Branch Control, August 17. Fayette County
  • Horticulture Tour, September 21, Colorado County
  • Native Prairies, October 19, Washington County
  • Livestock Production, November 16, Colorado County
