The Big Thicket

The Big Thicket Association is sponsoring hikes throughout the year to explore different trails in Big Thicket National Preserve.

On Sunday, April 2, they will lead a walk on the Woodlands Trail. The trail winds through a beautiful hardwood forest with an open understory and consists of 3 loops, ranging from 3.3 to 5.4 miles round-trip. Difficulty for this hike is rated as moderate.

Meet at the Woodlands Trailhead on FM 1276 about 6 miles north of Dallardsville at 1:30 pm, or meet the ranger at the Big Thicket visitor center at 12:30 pm to caravan to the trailhead. Bring water, a snack, and and good walking shoes. Please call the visitor center at 409-951-6700 to register.

Please note that, except for service dogs, pets are not allowed on public hikes.
