The Nature Conservancy’s Smiley Meadow Preserve Tour – Saturday, June 14

The warm weather is bringing about fresh, green colors everywhere, and our flowers are beginning to bloom. Don’t miss your chance to walk among the blooms at TNC’s 1,050-acre Smiley Meadow Preserve, which contains one of the most significant remnants of Silveus’ dropseed prairie—a rare type of tallgrass prairie that supports hundreds of species of grasses, wildflowers, and wildlife. You’ll immerse yourself in the beauty and color of true Texas prairie while learning about the history and ecology of our native grasslands.

Join us for a day of hands-on restoration and community impact!

What are your plans for next Friday? How about making a difference? 🌳 Join us June 6th (9 AM – 12 PM) at the Fort Worth Nature Center for an event packed with learning about the Fort Worth Riparian Initiative, connecting with restoration experts, and tackling invasive species! Clymer Meadow 2024 Spring Tours

Don’t miss your chance to walk among the wildflowers at TNC’s picturesque 1,475-acre Clymer Meadow Preserve, which contains one of the last remnants of the Blackland Prairie—an imperiled ecosystem comprised of numerous bird, butterfly, and wildflower species.

Partial Solar Eclipse walk at Parkhill Prairie with Rich Jaynes and Amy Martin

Michelle Connally, Class of 2018 – While we explore, the Sun will be undergoing an annular solar eclipse. Because we are outside the central eclipse band, it’ll only be a partial eclipse from our perspective and won’t have the shadow darkening effect of more precise eclipses. But it will be interesting for us to see what changes in sunlight we detect and if it seems to affect wildlife. Bring eclipse glasses for the full impact.
