Favorite Finds in my yard this summer
Flora and Fauna
LuAnne Ray – Neighborhood Snake Rescue
One evening last week about 8 pm my neighbor texted me about a snake half in and out of a hole in her backyard. Her first concern was is it venomous and second, why is it just hanging out and not moving?
Terry Comingore – Will they rebuild in the remains next year?
Remember these great photos of a heron nest at Maxwell Creek?
Laurie Sheppard – You can take the naturalist out of Texas but…
A few photos and facts from New Hampshire… You can take the Master Naturalist out of Texas (temporarily) but they will still seek to learn about the natural world wherever they are.
Bryan Beck – Master Naturalist Making a Difference
I took this job at the Texas Trees Foundation to start a program to teach school kids, communities, and anyone else who will listen about trees and their importance to our lives.
John Garbutt – Cooper’s Hawk

Paul Napper – Vertebrae found near the battery.
It was something I’d never seen and it still had a little hide and a section of the vertebrae attached. HOW COOL IS THAT! Some research told me it was a skunk.
Dick Zartler – BPRC Turkey Vultures
While inspecting the status of the BPRC’s recently burned meadows (doing very well, thank you), came upon these.
Nancy Taylor – Wasps Love Cicadas to Death
When I first saw her noticeable behavior pattern, I went quickly to get my camera. She kept digging, moving out small clumps of dirt, then backing out. I watched as she repeated the process.
Sally Evans – Remembering North Texas Naturalist Jim Dunlap
Folks have been writing about some of their experiences in the field and on their journeys and a trip with an alligator in the back seat. I understand those stories so well. I remember having a rabbit given to me and I tried to keep it but if finally had to go to the animal shelter. I cleaned that cage so well and had new litter and extra food. Oh it looked so good.
