Are you looking for an outdoor volunteer activity? Do you enjoy sharing the outdoors with children? Want to learn more about the nature and history of the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary? You can do all these things by becoming a Trail Guide at the Heard Natural Science Museum! The next series of training classes begins on Friday September 22.
Program: Trail Guide Training for the Heard Natural Science Museum
Dates/Times: Two consecutive Fridays: September 22 and 29 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm (You will need to bring a sack lunch!)
Description: Back-to-school season is here and that means the Heard is gearing up for a season full of dinos, fieldtrips, scout workshops, birthday parties, and annual Trail Guide Training with Dave Powell!
NOTE: If you are not currently a Heard volunteer, you will need to become one to be a Heard Trail Guide. If you are not currently a Heard Volunteer, complete an online application as soon as possible: Adult General Volunteer Application. Meet at: Laughlin Hall – Enter the museum and check in at the front desk for directions.
Dress: Routine dress code for activity in the field: Long-pants, boots/close-toed shoes; long-sleeved shirts are recommended. Master Naturalists should wear their name badges.
Bring: Sack lunch, drinking water, hat, sunscreen, insect repellant and appropriate outerwear for the weather.
