Naturalist Talk Speaker | Topic:  Carol Clark | “The Flowers of the Blackland Prairie”

Description

So many of our beautiful and once common native wildflowers have been removed from our local landscapes that relatively few people today can recognize and name more than a handful. This colorful slideshow program will take you on a virtual tour through the seasons of some of our last undisturbed natural areas and introduce some of the amazing plants that once dominated the region. We’ll talk about unusual plant features that make them tough prairie survivors, give you a sense of what the Tallgrass Prairie once looked like.

Carol Clark is a member of the Texas Master Naturalist Blackland Prairie Chapter, a long-time member of the Native Plant Society of Texas, Chair of the Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas committee of NPSOT, and a Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist.  When she’s not busy teaching others about pollinators or native plants, she enjoys looking after her own colossal Monarch Waystation and private wildlife refuge in Cooke County. She blogs sporadically about native plants and animals at carolsworld.net.  She is a frequent speaker on conservation topics around the state.
