Heard Museum Second Saturday Bird Walks

Second Saturday Bird walks at the Heard Museum resume this month.  Join experienced birders from the Prairie & Timbers Audubon Society on the second Saturday of each month through June, beginning this Saturday, September 10.

Location:  Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

Description:  Second Saturday Bird Walks in the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary are offered by volunteers from the Prairie & Timbers Audubon Society (PTAS). These bird walks are intended to help beginning and intermediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques. There are also plenty of opportunities provided for participants to ask questions from experienced birders. Prairie, woodland, and wetland habitats are included in these walks.

Optional extended time is available by participant request. Be sure to arrive on time, because if you come a few minutes late, the group may have already started their walk.

Dress:  Routine dress code for activity in the field: Long-pants, boots/close-toed shoes; long-sleeved shirts are recommended.  Master Naturalists should wear their name badges.

Bring:  Drinking water, sunscreen, insect repellant, binoculars and/or camera.

Logging AT:  Approved for 1.5 hours of AT to be logged at AT: BPTMN Other Pre-approved Training with “Heard Bird Walk” in description box.
