You are invited to the February 2, 2021 virtual meeting of the Collin County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas. The virtual meeting starts at 6:30 pm for social time and the presentation begins at 7:00 pm.
Program Topic: Tenison Park Pollinator Garden presented by Karen Albracht, Tenison Park Garden Administrator
The Tenison Park pollinator garden is a functioning native plant-pollinator haven located in an East Dallas public park and maintained solely by volunteers. The garden features several effective outreach avenues. Garden Administrator Karen Albracht will describe the process of starting this garden and will offer tips and encouragement for everyone wanting to do the same.
Karen was raised on a farm and has had a lifetime interest in gardening. Her growing awareness and concern about water resources peaked one hot summer day whilst endlessly watering her Bermudagrass lawn (a native of Africa, she now knows). Though not a biologist, she is a 2019 North Texas Master Naturalist, has a natural interest in the environment, and looks for ways to improve it locally. Being near the soil is good for her soul.
