CLYMER MEADOW / THE NATURE CONSERVANCY

VH Opportunity   –    Multiple days /  Morning & Afternoon time slots  

Friday, September 11          8am  – 12 noon            1pm  –  5pm

Saturday,      Sept  12          12 noon – 5 pm  

Sunday,         Sept  13          8am  –  2 pm

Monday through Friday      8am  –  12 noon           1pm  –  5pm

Brandon is preparing firebreaks with the intent of burning in a few weeks.  They will start mowing on September 9.  He could use assistance beginning on Friday per the schedule above.  There are two specific tasks that he needs volunteers for.

#1  –  Backpack blowing –   To be clear, this is miles of blowing dry vegetation from a 20 ft wide mowed line.  The backpacks are about 20 lbs and the walking is easy and over mostly smooth ground.  These will be 4 hour shifts.  
#2  –  Seed collection –  Harvesting seed from multiple prairie locations that comprise the “meadow”

The Nature Conservancy requires that you sign there standard waiver and also COVID waiver that must be signed by all volunteers.  The (over 65) restriction has been removed.  These are detailed documents that you should review prior to  volunteering.      

Volunteers will need to bring their own drinking water, gloves and face mask (required).   You will also need PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE.  

Volunteers: Volunteers may resume field work on high priority projects as described in this Field Work Guidelines document. Supervisor approval is required before staff allow volunteers to do field work. volunteers must work independently, or with another volunteer(s) who lives in the same household, and adhere to current government restrictions, social distancing and the guidelines in this document. Staff are responsible for sharing current guidelines as described in this document and for effectively communicating our policies with volunteers. Staff must provide volunteers with a description of the work and any tools or other equipment that will allow them to work independently and shall review proof of health insurance prior to approving any volunteer work.
