Hello Master Naturalists!

Volunteers are needed to complete various prairie projects at Clymer Meadow and other remnant prairies in around Celeste, Texas.  Schedule some time to participate in the care of these special places.

Work Plan:  Work activities will take place at Clymer Meadow, Park Hill Prairie, County Line Prairie, Matthews Prairie, and other outlying remnant prairies.

The volunteer service involves restoration, maintenance, plant / animal / insect surveys, seed collection and seasonal specialized activities.

Typical volunteer day involves 4-6 members who work 3 ½ hours, have lunch/snack and recap the day’s activity with Brandon, and discuss upcoming activities/projects.

Location:   Clymer Meadow Preserve – 4318 FM 1562, Celeste, TX 75432   Get driving directions

Carpool:  Tom Shackelford will take up to three individuals who wish to carpool.  Contact Tom (214-505-1177 or by email toms@bptmn.org) in advance, due to limited space.  Carpool will depart from Tom’s house in McKinney (near Virginia and Hardin) one hour prior to scheduled time to start at Clymer.  Tom will provide address and directions when you call him.

Meet at:  Clymer Meadow Preserve – White farmhouse office; north side of road.

Parking:  Left side of the Office/Sheds

Dress:  Routine dress code for activity in the field: Long pants, boots/close-toed shoes; long-sleeved shirts are recommended.  Master Naturalists should wear their name badges.

Bring:  Drinking water, gloves, and face mask (required).  You will also need PROOF OF HEALTH INSURANCE.

  • The Nature Conservancy requires that volunteers sign a standard waiver and provide proof of health insurance.
