(VH) Clymer Preserve Workday
January 15, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Clymer Meadow Preserve
This will actually take place at Clymer Meadow, Park Hill, Matthews Prairie, County Line prairie and potentially other remnant and restoration prairie sites in Collin and Hunt County. These will usually start by meeting at The Nature Conservancy office. The address is 4318 FM 1562 Celeste, Texas 75423. If a person started at the Heard and drove to Clymer the drive is 32 miles and takes 40-45 minutes. I take 75 -121 – fm545 to Clymer. You can also take 380 – 78 – fm545.
Monthly dates are set to take place on the 2nd Wednesday and 3rd Thursday of each month. There are also 4 quarterly dates that are set for Saturdays. All events will start at 8:30 am and finish at 12.
There are several ongoing projects and a variety of tasks – brush and invasive removal, sorting / cleaning seeds, seed gathering takes place throughout the year. There are also non-scheduled events that are specialized in scope and may become available to members for participation. Example: preparation for prescribed burns in restoration areas.
Important info – All volunteers will need to sign a waiver to participate. Dress appropriately – Long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves – Mud boots if you have them. Bring a water bottle and insect repellent. All tools are provided by the conservancy. Power equipment use must be approved in advance (safety rules and proficiency) by a representative of the Nature conservancy. Operators must always use TNC equipment and wear safety gear that is provided by the Nature conservancy.
We encourage individuals to carpool to the location. Parking is limited and transportation to specific sites in the prairies is limited to TNC vehicles. I have room for 3 and will either start from the Heard or my home.
Further details and specific tasks will be forthcoming.
