(VH) Connemara Meadow Preserve Restoration
April 20, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Hello Blackland Prairie Master Naturalists!
Looking for volunteer work that involves working outside, planting/caring for native plants/grasses, and a getting a healthy workout? Then you should strongly consider joining the Connemara Meadow Restoration Team! The information below will give you the basics. The best way to really learn about what is involved in this opportunity is to contact Meadow Manager Bob Mione at firstname.lastname@example.org or by text/phone at 214.534.1900.
Project: Connemara Meadow Preserve Restoration
Date: Six days a week-Sunday through Friday
Time: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
Work Plan: The Meadow restoration effort is continuous, six days a week (Sunday through Friday), 52 weeks a year. About once a month, we make a trip to Beck’s Prairie in Richardson to rescue some native grass to bring back to the Meadow to transplant.
Volunteers receive an email each Sunday with a broad-brush plan for the week ahead with updates during the week as required, i.e., if we are weathered out.
Dress: Sturdy shoes, bug spray, hat, layered clothing, long pants, long-sleeved shirt.
Bring: Something to drink, a good pair of garden work gloves and a hat. It is very important to know it is both colder and warmer in the Meadow than at your home. Unless you have a favorite shovel or spade, there is no reason to bring any tools.
Contact (at location): Bob Mione – email@example.com – 214.534.1900
Parking: Parking is an evolving issue as we are somewhat dependent on our neighbor for parking, so the parking area can change literally from day to day. The Sunday email to all volunteers will note if the parking location changes or if we are weathered out.
Logging VH: Log volunteer hours worked and drive time to and from the Meadow as “Connemara Meadow Preserve.”

New volunteers to the Meadow should reach out to Bob Mione at firstname.lastname@example.org or by text/phone at 214.534.1900 if they would like to join the effort. When they do that, I can very quickly let them know what the plan is for the day(s) they have selected to come to the Meadow.
