(VH) Heritage Farmstead Prairie Garden Maintenance

July 13 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 9:00 am on day Second of the month, repeating until 12/14/2019

Heritage Farmstead Prairie garden 2nd Saturday workday

The Heritage Farmstead Garden is set up to be a native plant “show” garden for people to know about native plants and their benefit to the local ecosystem.  Volunteering at the Garden involves some erosion control, bi-weekly (warmer months) and monthly maintenance (cooler months) and a lot of weeding.  The main focus of this garden is education for locals to know what can be put in home gardens that will need less care, watering, and chemicals so that we can start returning our neighborhoods back to a more natural state.  We are planning on working with the Farmstead about more educational opportunities for the community to talk and interact with our volunteers to gain first-hand knowledge as to how to implement, maintain, and support native plants in our modern neighborhoods.

We volunteer every 2nd Saturday from 9-11, and after the time change (and warmer weather) we will try to go twice a month (1st and 3rd Saturdays) from 8-10 am.

If you have any questions or want to be added to the email list, please email Bryan Beck at beckb@friscoisd.org or give him a call at 972-658-7027 for more information!
