Other Volunteer Opportunities at the Holifield:
Website: Holifield Science Center
Animal Care: On a continuing basis, HSLC houses approximately 150 wild, imprinted, and injured animals throughout the year. The animals range from domestic birds to a bobcat. The care of the animals involves a wide range of duties and is a great way to learn about the care, nutrition and habits of each resident.
Construction: Constructing lids for tanks, ramps for habitats, enrichment toys. Materials are provided.
Butterfly House: Help with Planting, etc.
Other Information: Because HSLC is part of a school curriculum, the facility is not open to the public. The intent of the learning center is to provide a nature study center for the school district. When the district received the city’s approval to develop the fifteen-acre tract of preserved natural area, an advisory committee from Texas A&M University was put into action to work on plans and ideas.
