We’ll have a workday from 8:30am to 11:30am, that will include plenty of time to make observations in the park natural areas. Rick
Project: Native Prairie restoration in Frisco Parks.
Location: Teel Parkway just north of Lone Start High School (on the right if you are northbound…same side as the high school)
Meet: For those of you that haven’t been to Northwest Community Park. Here are directions (by the way, the address in google maps is 2525 Gloryview Rd….problem is that road no longer exists…where it was, is now part of the new PGA golf course.)
So follow these directions:
Put Lone Star High School, Frisco, in your navigation app.
From the high school, which is at the corner of Panther Creek and Teel Parkways, proceed north on Teel about a mile. You’ll pass a large retention pond on your right. The gravel parking lot for the park is immediately past the pond, on your right. That’s where we’ll meet.
Volunteer Opportunities: Harvest native plant seed from the natural areas at Frisco Community Park. The seed will be redistributed at a later date into the native prairie restoration areas at Frisco Commons and Cottonwood Creek parks.
Wear: Short sleeves are fine for this work, wear long pants and good hiking shoes as we’ll be harvesting in the tall grass.
Bring: water, gloves, small hand clippers, small bags for trash collection. Also bring your smart phone or camera for opportunities to take pictures to identify the flora and fauna on the park.
