VH – Richardson Canyon Creek Marsh Park Project

An event every month that begins at 8:00 am on day Third of the month, repeating until December 17, 2022

Hello Master Naturalists!

This opportunity is in Richardson, offering members who live in SW Collin County an volunteer option close to home.  The project has a reoccurring 3rd Saturday workday from 8 am-12 pm.  Approved workers can also work independently any day, any time.

Interested BPTMNs should complete the attached City of Richardson waiver, then contact Julia Koch at the City of Richardson to get on her list of workers.

Event:  Canyon Creek Marsh and Wildscape Restoration

Date:  Third Saturday of each Month – Next Workday: March 19

Time:  8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Work Plan:  Removal of invasive plant species, protecting existing native plants, planting native grasses, wildflowers and trees using volunteers from the community and the Texas Master Naturalist programs improve the biodiversity of these pockets Blackland prairie and riparian areas.

There is a scheduled workday on the third Saturday of every month from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Volunteers may also work independently on any day at any time to remove Scabiosa, Queen Anne’s Lace, broom weed, and Johnson Grass only after a City of Richardson waiver has been completed, sent to, and approved by Julia Koch.

Location:1001 President George Bush Turnpike, Richardson, TX 75080

Parking:  Park behind the Hilton Garden Inn

Dress:  Routine dress code for activity in the field: Long-pants, boots/close-toed shoes; long-sleeved shirts are recommended.  Master Naturalists should wear their name badges.

Bring:  Drinking water, gloves, sunscreen, insect repellant and face mask (just in case)
