Tony Manasseri was a one man show for our chapter. He joined committees, did physical labor, was active in almost every facet of our chapter. His smile, his positive attitude toward life, his acceptance of every person on their level, made him an invaluable member of the chapter. He usually sat near the front at chapter meetings. He was always there when needed. I worked with him when I was Education Chair. There are a lot of folks who have really made this chapter special and he was one of those. He likes birds, bugs, plants, fish, fungus, herps, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fly fishing, anthropology, archaeology, etc. An amateur naturalist from an early age, Bob has spent much of his life outdoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An urban forager Bob teaches classes about edible and medicinal native plants, you can find him on the schedule at local nature preserves, parks and environmental centers in the springtime. His work is featured in the book Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature Around Dallas-Fort Worth by Amy Martin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:15px\">Bob is a certified Texas Master Naturalist and past president of The Trinity Valley Beekeepers Association, Dallas\u2019s local honeybee club, as well as a past Board Member of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.northtexasmycology.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Texas Mycological Association<\/a><\/strong>. This fully staffed slot features a presentation on <strong>Pocket Prairies<\/strong>, with volunteers arriving early to manage the table setup and assist with the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The month wraps up on the evening of <strong>Saturday, May 30<\/strong>, with a community <strong>mothing<\/strong> event at a local park. A striking top-down perspective of a <strong>Coneflower<\/strong> (<strong>Echinacea<\/strong>) about to bloom and the brilliant yellow flowers of the <strong>Prickly Pear<\/strong> (<strong>Opuntia<\/strong>) highlight the diversity of the local flora, alongside the showy, tubular blossoms of the <strong>Cobra Beardtongue<\/strong> (<strong>Penstemon cobaea<\/strong>). Wildlife activity is equally prominent, featuring a brilliant <strong>Green Anole<\/strong> (<strong>Anolis carolinensis<\/strong>) alertly posing on a tree stump and clear evidence of <strong>leaf-cutter bees<\/strong> (<strong>Megachile<\/strong>) at work, leaving their signature perfectly circular &#8220;hole punches&#8221; in the leaves of a <strong>Redbud<\/strong> (<strong>Cercis canadensis<\/strong>).
