About the speaker:

Kelly Conrad Simon has been with Texas Parks and Wildlife since 1995 and currently serves as the Urban Wildlife Biologist for the Central Texas area.  In this capacity, she coordinates employee engagement with the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. Her other projects generally involve the topics of native planting and wildlife habitat, exotic invasive plants, native urban-adapted wildlife including songbirds and coyotes, and engaging urban students of all ages in the study of nature. Her MS degree was earned in 1995 at Emporia State University (Kansas) and her BA was earned in 1992 at Southwestern University (Georgetown, Texas).

The next Texas Waters Webinar is only two weeks away!  The webinar will be held Tuesday, February 26th from 3:00pm – 4:00pm (please note different time).  Kelly’s webinar will cover how the proposed Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (H.R. 4647) would fund research and conservation of any species determined to be a Species of Greatest Conservation Need, including any mammal, bird, fish, jellyfish, plant, snake, and turtle that needs it.  The webinar relates to material in portions of Chapter 1: Texas Aquatic Habitats and the Species They Support; Chapter 2: The Characteristics, Components, and Value of Healthy Watershed Ecosystems; Chapter 5: The Ecological Significance of Natural Flow Regimes; and Chapter 6: The Role and Function of Wetlands and Estuarine Systems of the Texas Waters: Exploring Water and Watersheds curriculum.
