AT: Native Plant Gardening for Birds and Bees

October 17, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

As birds, butterflies and bees become increasingly imperiled, more homeowners are creating gardens to nurture and sustain pollinators. These gardens can support a thriving natural micro-ecosystem and eliminate the need for fertilizers and pesticides, while reducing maintenance and water waste. We will learn which wildflowers, flowering shrubs and trees will make your yard come alive as ruby-throated hummingbirds, American goldfinches, gulf fritillary, swallowtails and monarch butterflies seek food and shelter. When planted correctly, native plant gardens are vibrant, dynamic living systems that are healthier and more gorgeous than conventional gardens. The sustainable oasis you create will also become a retreat for your family in an increasingly urbanized world.
