Chapter Program: “Shade Balls to Reduce Water Evaporation” by Corrie Bowen

Last Summer, Mr. Bowen assisted his son Clayton on research using Shade Balls to reduce water evaporation from livestock water tanks and water troughs. Mr. Bowen will present the results of Clayton’s research, which placed 2nd in the State at the State FFA AgricScience Fair in July 2021. Clayton plans to continue sharing his research results at the next State Fair of Texas and the Houston Livestock Show AgriScience Fair.
Corrie Bowen is a County Extension Agent in Wharton County, Texas. He’s been an Extension Agent for the past 23 years. He has previously served as an Extension Agent intern in Mills County, Texas, and as a County Extension Agent in Van Zandt, Galveston, and Brazoria Counties. Corrie graduated in 1995 with a B.S. Degree from Tarleton State University; and in 1998 with a M.S. Degree from Texas Tech University. He’s always been intrigued by research, and as a County Agent kind of Dad, he has introduced his two sons to agriculture and natural resources research.
