*MEMBERS ONLY* Chapter Program: Cullinan Park & Birding Fort Bend

May 7, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free
Robbin Mallet at Cullinan Park

Spring migration is in full swing, but social distancing is still in effect, so we will have a members-only Zoom meeting to learn more about birding close to home.  “Cullinan Park & Birding Fort Bend County” will be presented by Robbin Mallett, member of the Cullinan Park Conservancy Board and Communications Director of the TMNCPC.  Robbin will speak about Sugar Land’s 750-acre Cullinan Park and give tips on birding Fort Bend County, focusing on the top eight hotspots.  A whopping 245 species of birds have been seen at Cullinan Park. The park is home to a multitude of aquatic birds, raptors and other Gulf coast specialties, but is also known for fun surprises.  In the first two months of 2020, birders have found numerous uncommon species including American woodcock, green-tailed towhee, merlin, prairie warbler, golden-crowned kinglet, winter wren, ovenbird, Harris’s sparrow, orange-cheeked waxbill and ash-throated flycatcher.  Find out what you might discover at Cullinan.  This will be a MEMBERS ONLY program presented live through Zoom.  The link to the Zoom meeting will be emailed in advance of the program to all TMNCPC members.

Robbin Mallett is an avid birder and photographer living the sweet life in Sugar Land, Texas.  When not volunteering with the Cullinan Park Conservancy Board and the TMNCPC, she loves to chase birds and is working to get her Texas Life list to 500 species (27 to go) and her worldwide list to 1,000 birds. She has a B.A. in journalism from the University of Oklahoma and an M.A. in public relations from the University of Houston. She enjoys adventure travel and loved the eight years her family lived in Bangkok, Thailand and Sumatra, Indonesia. She and her husband, Bill, have two sons in college.

The meeting is free and open to all current TMNCPC members.

The Texas Master Naturalists program is sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

[Members: record 1-1.25 hour of AT: Chapter Meeting-Coastal Prairie plus about 30 minutes of VSP under Chapter Business: Chapter Meeting]
