VSP: 2nd Annual James B. Harrison Burr Spring Bird Count

Lake on the Burr Property in Wharton County

Birders of all levels are welcome to join the JBH Staff on a hike around the property to survey birds for the 2nd Annual Spring Bird Count. Some 88 species of birds were recorded during the 1st Spring Bird Count in April 2020. The JBH Burr Property consists of various habitats including wetlands, lakes, wooded timber, and a rookery. The JBH Burr Property is also the home to a Bald Eagle’s nest!

The following COVID-19 TMN Guidelines must be adhered to at all times:

  • “For any indoor activity that does occur in-person, both volunteers and public participants must wear masks. The occupancy limit shall not exceed one person per 100 square feet of indoor public space to allow for 10 feet of social distance.
  • For outdoor activities, both volunteers and public participants must wear masks and social distance by at least 6 feet.”

Participation is limited. Registration is required:

Advisement: The Burr Property hike has routes ranging from 2-4 miles and can be “hiking intensive”.
