VSP: Coastal Prairie Conservancy/KPC – Tuesday Work Day at Indiangrass Prairie

The Coastal  Prairie Conservancy (CPC) seeks “Preserve and Native Nursery Volunteers”. Its COVID-19 Update notes volunteer opportunities are “Open to vaccinated volunteers”.

“Come get your hands dirty on the prairie. Every Tuesday and Friday on the Indiangrass Preserve, volunteers participate in activities critical to the success of our restoration program. Volunteers maintain the Ann Hamilton Trail, grow out native species in our Coastal Prairie Native Seed Nursery, plant native wildflowers and grasses, remove invasive species, build and repair preserve improvements, and ensure the safety of our preserve for visitors of all ages.”

Who: Katy Prairie Conservancy (KPC) welcomes “All vaccinated individuals are welcome to participate – no experience necessary.”

What: Work in the preserve and native nursery

When: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Where: KPC Indiangrass Preserve 31975 Hebert Road Waller TX 77484

Why: The KPC Work Day volunteers can often see areas of the KPC preserves that are not open to the public. And, it’s what TMNs do!

Other: Physical Requirements: Bending, kneeling, or sitting on the ground; some light lifting.
What to wear: Closed-toed shoes, tall socks, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat.
What to bring: Gardening gloves. All other tools are provided.

“Come get your hands dirty on the prairie. Every Tuesday and Friday on the Indiangrass Preserve, volunteers participate in activities critical to the success of our restoration program. Volunteers maintain the Ann Hamilton Trail, grow out native species in our Coastal Prairie Native Seed Nursery, plant native wildflowers and grasses, remove invasive species, build and repair preserve improvements, and ensure the safety of our preserve for visitors of all ages.”

Who: Katy Prairie Conservancy (KPC) welcomes “All vaccinated individuals are welcome to participate – no experience necessary.”

What: Work in the preserve and native nursery

When: Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Where: KPC Indiangrass Preserve 31975 Hebert Road Waller TX 77484

Why: The KPC Work Day volunteers can often see areas of the KPC preserves that are not open to the public. And, it’s what TMNs do!

Other: Physical Requirements: Bending, kneeling, or sitting on the ground; some light lifting.
What to wear: Closed-toed shoes, tall socks, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat.
What to bring: Gardening gloves. All other tools are provided.
