Prairie Seed Collecting
During the COVID-19 pandemic, seed collecting is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. The Katy Prairie Conservancy (KPC) has scheduled a seed collecting opportunity. The KPC’s priority is to keep its staff and volunteer seed collectors safe. The KPC has established a protocol to for seed collecting and asks all seed collectors to ready, understand, and follow the guidelines it has established. When: Wednesday, 11/18/2020, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
Where: KPC’s Rock Hollow Creek – Meet at the Matt Cook Wildlife Viewing Platform parking lot. (Map)
Registration: Cost = $0.00. Registration is required. Group size is limited to 10 total for each trip. Each person needs to register for him/herself. Only sign up for the slots you will attend. If after registering, you cannot attend, please notify LShen@katyprairie.org so someone may take your place. NOTE: When registering, scroll down to the “Items for Sale” section and enter a “1” next to each trip for which you are registering. If you do not select any items, you are NOT registered for any trips.
General Instructions:
You may collect seeds for KPC, for any other non-profit organization, or for your own personal use.
There will be no shared supplies other than paper sacks. Have your own supplies on hand: hand sanitizer, water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, pens, gloves, a camera, scissors, or clippers.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, long-sleeved shirt, a hat, and long pants.
