VSP: Seabourne Wednesday Work Day – COVID Orange Alert

An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until December 28, 2022

Jerry Trenta, Director Seabourne Creek Nature Park (SCNP) asks the following of the volunteers:

Volunteering at SCNP will be converted to “individual tasks only”.

There will be no gathering and physical distancing will apply.

Masks are always recommended when others are nearby.

Tasks can be completed individually or with couples.

Tasks do not need to be completed on regular volunteer days.

Available individual tasks include:

Bird feeder refilling – Check with Bill Johnson (281-734-3349/

Bump ups and separations: Bump ups can be done at SCNP and separations can be done at SCNP or the materials can be taken home to be done in the comfort of your home. You will need to keep them watered until they are returned to SCNP.

Invasive tree removal: several tasks include brush mower clearing; branch trimming, chipper feeder, chainsaw work, log haul-off duty.

Native Plant and Butterfly Gardens: check with Lynn Trenta (832-646-4769/, or Katie Sallean, (713-502-5701/

Come help at Seabourne Creek Nature Park (SCNP), Texas Master Naturalist Coastal Prairie Chapter’s signature project! It is a great way to earn VSP hours; learn about butterflies and prairie plants; and enjoy time with fellow Texas Master Naturalists.

There are several SCNP areas needing attention:

  • Prairie Restoration Project
  • Butterfly Garden
  • Bird Sanctuaries
  • Prairie and Habitat Garden
  • Arboretum Project

When: Every Wednesday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am

What to take/wear to this event: Water, sunscreen, bug repellent, gloves, closed-toe shoes, and long pants. If desired, have a sack lunch.

TMN COVID-19 Precautions: “For any indoor or outdoor activities that do occur in-person, masks and social distancing considerations are encouraged.”

Fort Bend County COVID-19 Orange Advisement: “Avoid and cancel medium (10-250 people) and large public private gatherings (250+). Avoid non-essential business and personal travel. Minimize contact with others, but begin leaving the home for non-essential needs, except medium and large gatherings. Practice social distancing and use face coverings.”
