The topics to be addressed:
-Role of top soil in buffering the effects of drought, in water conservation, in sequestering atmospheric carbon
– Revisiting the composition of soil including the role of the micro and macro organisms in the topsoil
-Role of no till practices (regenerative agriculture/gardening) in the shift from the chemical paradigm (herbicides, fertilizers & pesticides) to a more sustainable paradigm (diverse cover crops, companion plants, no tillage practices, natural fertilizers, composting)
-History of and Role of the NRCS in the Soil Health Management Systems campaign
-Active demonstrations of various type of soils (why some are healthy and some are not)
-Two 45 minute presentations (some hands on) with two 15 minute question/answer sessions
