Starting with tool use throughout history into the development of the tool selection available today, we will discuss the use and care for the tools we use every day. A short (1+ hr) lecture followed by a demonstration, hands-on lab. (2 hrs AT total). Participants may be encouraged to, in addition to those provided in by the instructor for the class.
Those signed-up will be contacted prior to the class, asking for particular questions anyone has about the tool they are planning to bring to the class, and, of course, what it will be.
Supplies: work tables, disposable table cloth, mineral oil, turpentine, WD40, motor oil (SAE 30), light (sewing machine) oil, sand paper, liquid dish soap, water, industrial rust remover, work rags, hand cleaner, gloves (latex and disposable cloth).
Tools: files (several shapes and sizes), sharpeners, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers (philips and flat head), knife, scissors, bowls, wire brushes, toothbrushes, paint brushes, scraper, ballpeen hammer, clamps, cutting board,
