Training for new Johnson Branch Nature Center Project Specific AT

October 8, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Ray Roberts State Park Johnson Branch Nature Center volunteer orientation at the Nature Center
Johnson Branch Interpretive Ranger, Tara Hartford will plan for 1.5 hours on Friday, October 8

Starting with 1/2 hour in the Nature Center on Johnson Branch and its importance in the Trinity Watershed, its farming history, and the Paleo-Indian/archeological history.
Then 1/2 hour for a walk to the Kid’s Fish Pond and orientation to Johnson Branch.
Closing with 1/2 hour back in the Nature Center on the activities for kids and opportunities there to check out materials.
Master Naturalists should get 1.5 hours AT. We brainstormed about having 10-12 people in the NC for this if we can socially distance the chairs.

The new Nature Center at Ray Roberts Lake State Park, Johnson Branch will be opening October 16th. After a long pause the Nature Center is being completed and the State Park has hired 2 new Interpretive Rangers. Tara Hartford at Johnson Branch and Mindy Shumate at Isle du Bois. Along with Master Naturalists Tara Hartford will be providing training and orientation for new volunteers. VMS time should be logged as Project Specific AT.
