We Rocked the 2016 Texas MN Conference

What an amazing weekend for the Galveston Bay chapter at the 2016 Texas Master Naturalist conference.    The State unveiled a new category for volunteer service hours – a 15,000 volunteer hour commemorative tile .   Two of the three recipients are our own chapter members; Tom Solomon and Dick Benoit.   Marie Asscherick was awarded her 10,000 hour service pin as well.

Debbie Repasz won first place for wildlife photography and Chuck Snyder placed second for his Master Naturalist At Work & Play picture.

Our chapter also won first place overall for our Pollution Prevention Project!   This is a great honor and it brings home $750 to our chapter.   This project included the story of all the work we have done both internally (adopt a highway, shoreline clean-ups, outreach) and internally (Plastic Pollution Prevention (P3) & monofilament bin project).

The project team included Suzanne Becker, Stennie Meadours, Maureen Nolan-Wilde, Sandy Parker, and Chuck Snyder.   It was a great conference and hope you can join us next year at Corpus Christi.
