AT – Get Ready for City Nature Challenge (Learn/Review iNaturalist)

April 12, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Are you looking for an opportunity to get out into nature, test your knowledge of plants and animals, and participate in a competition with cities around the world? If so, then this one-hour advanced training by Zoom, set for 6:00-7:15pm on Wednesday, April 12, is just for you!
Join Scott Buckel, nature photographer and our chapter’s expert on iNaturalist, who will teach (or refresh!) us on the ins and outs of using and posting data to iNaturalist. iNaturalist is a platform that provides a location to record and organize your own nature findings, meet other nature enthusiasts and learn about the natural world, as well as providing valuable data for citizen science.
This AT will focus on how to use iNaturalist on your personal computer or smartphone and get you ready for the 2023 City Nature Challenge (citynaturechallenge.org) if you’d like to participate. This year’s City Nature Challenge for taking photos on iNat will be April 28 – May 1. Scott will tell us all about how this works.
Since you will learn to use the iNat smartphone app in this AT, we encourage course participants to download and install it on their phones in advance. For those who don’t have a smartphone or wish to use a regular camera to record and report observations, there are other City Nature Challenge roles which will be discussed during this session.
