AT: Pleistocene Megafauna & the Environment via ZOOM

November 11, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Pleistocene Megafauna & the Environment: How did these animals live and how do we know?

Thursday, November 11, 2:00 pm (Zoom)

Our guest presenter, Dr. Lindsay T. Yann, is the National Park Service site paleontologist at the Waco Mammoth National Monument. Using fossil evidence from the Waco Mammoth National Monument in Central Texas and from Ingleside, further down the Texas coast, Dr. Yann will discuss methods paleontologists employ to reconstruct ancient Texas environments as well as those in other corners of the world.

Fossil sites provide data regarding the local fauna of a region and may inform modern humans of the paleoecology of these ancient animals. The shapes, chemical composition, and other aspects of the fossils allow paleontologists to reconstruct detailed interpretations of these mammals’ lives and of their habitats.
