VOL – Mini beach-and-bay-day at Bayside Regional Park

The Bayside Regional Park Team has partnered with Houston Audubon and received permission from Galveston County to host a mini Beach and Bay Day at Bayside Regional Park. We don’t have an official name for it at this time. We will also invite Galveston Bay Foundation to participate.

The dates are Friday, May 13 for the community center Seniors and Saturday, May 14 for the public, mostly Bacliff and San Leon, families. This is a very under-served, and diverse, in every way. community and gives us an opportunity to share the joys of nature to a community that seldom has the the opportunity for such an event.

Friday’s schedule activities will be determined with community center staff and will be held indoors and outdoors.

We need GBAC members help with planning the Saturday public event.

The native plant garden will be featured and we are looking for other nature related activities to share with attendees. At this time we need help with the following to start planning.

Help with event planning (Galv. Beach and Bay planners, please share your experience.)

GBAC what are the available resources: tents, tables, nature activity equipment, etc.

Storyboard on the history of the Bacliff/San Leon area, based upon the San Leon history book by Alecya Gallaway.

Help with the announcement/invitation flyer design

Volunteers to staff and help the day of the event.
