The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n<p>Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n<p>Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth. Volunteers will assist with maintaining native seed evaluation plots through light hoe work to keep trials clean and productive (approximately one hour, depending on rainfall). Naturalists&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n<p>Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n<p>Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth. Native Plant Landscape: Gideon Lincecum Master Naturalists&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our regular workdays to attend the landscape are the 3rd Tuesday of the month from approximately 8 am to 10 am.<\/p>\n<p>The native plant landscape bed is at the Fayette County AgriLife Extension Office on Svoboda Lane in La Grange and has been developed over a number of years by our chapter. There is a wonderful guidebook for the plants in a binder available at the Extension agent\u2019s office. The landscape includes trees, shrubs, forbs, and grasses. Some pruning and weeding are always needed. Bring your favorite gardening tools and water. Also bring large garbage sacks for disposal of debris. Naturalists&lt;&lt;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n<p>Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n<p>Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth.
