The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n

Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n

If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n

Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth. We hope to see you there. VMS opportunity: Administrative work: Board\/committee work<\/strong><\/p>\n

All chapter members are welcome to attend Board Meetings. TMN GLC Board Meetings are typically the last Friday of even numbered months (Feb, Apr, Jun, August, October, December) at 9:30am. Locations and dates\/times may vary.<\/p>\n

October\u2019s Board Meeting is on Friday 10\/30\/26, at 9:30 am, at the historic Nelsonville Brethren Church, 332 Nelsonville Church Rd, Bellville, TX 77418. This historical church was built in 1874 by Czech-Moravian settlers. It is located very close to the site of the first Czech protestant worship service ever held in Texas, which took place in 1855. Plus, this architectural masterpiece is located roughly across the street from fellow TMN GLCers Marvelyn & Trey Granger\u2019s Nellie Gail Ranch so as you pass by you can stare enviously at their beautifully (and continually as most of us know) restored prairie.<\/p>\n

Join us for a workday in the GLC pollinator garden at Washington-on-the-Brazos Historic Site. We\u2019ll be working on cleaning up, cutting back, and pulling out aggressive native and non-native plants.<\/p>\n

Bring gloves, hand clippers, and small trowel or other tool for digging up weeds, and don\u2019t forget to bring\u00a0water, sunscreen and a hat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
