As the Gideon Lincecum Chapter revives the circular riparian area, we will trim the mature garden removing invasives and ill-placed specimens. We will add a variety of plants native to the Post Oak Savannah, many harvested from Colorado County TMN GLC members\u2019 properties. Join us at the circular garden with a drive around it near the pavilion in this small park. Bring your favorite loppers, pruners, shovel, and lots of water and sun protection. Bug repellent may be needed.<\/p>\n

The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n

Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n

If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n

Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Attwater is a jewel of a refuge that is home to one of the most endangered species on earth. We hope to see you there. Join us for a workday in the GLC pollinator garden at Washington-on-the-Brazos Historic Site. We\u2019ll be working on cleaning up, cutting back, and pulling out aggressive native and non-native plants.<\/p>\n

Bring gloves, hand clippers, and small trowel or other tool for digging up weeds, and don\u2019t forget to bring\u00a0water, sunscreen and a hat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in helping in the garden is welcome. Trained Winedale Historical Complex volunteers lead a nature\/history walk monthly on the last Saturday of each month beginning at 10 a.m. This walk integrates the human and natural history of the site.<\/p>\n

The Winedale tour is in partnership with the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin, which operates the center. Learn both human and natural history as you walk with certified Texas Master Naturalists in the footsteps of Texas pioneers and indigenous people who forged history in the unique wilderness that was early Texas.<\/p>\n

The Attwater Prairie Chicken Project is in conjunction with the Coastal Prairie Chapter. The effort is led by Jean Stipelcovich from the Coastal Prairie chapter and Jaide Cooper, the wildlife specialist for the reserve, and Krystyna Westfield is the project lead for the Gideon Lincecum chapter.<\/p>\n

Bring long sleeves, pants, protective shoes, and leather gloves if you have them (if not we got em!), and hand tools. The group will meet in front of the visitor\u2019s center at 8AM, and then we will usually next head into the conference room inside for a few minutes to get the instructions for the day\u2019s tasks.<\/p>\n

If you plan to be a regular participant in this project, please join the #team-attwater Slack Channel for the latest updates. Jaide is a member of the Team-Attwater Slack channel and she posts the planned activity a few days ahead of our Friday work mornings.<\/p>\n

Past projects include editing, organizing, constructing pens, observing, planting, collecting, interpreting, and more. There is always something meaningful and important to do and there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Join us every second Wednesday of the month in supporting Texas Native Seeds (TNS) at the 3H Ranch evaluation trials. Volunteers will assist with maintaining native seed evaluation plots through light hoe work to keep trials clean and productive (approximately one hour, depending on rainfall). In addition, volunteers may help collect ripe native plant seed to support regional variety development efforts.<\/p>\n
