Celebrate Texas Arbor Day with us at the Deep in the Heartwood Festival, a vibrant outdoor event hosted at the W.G. Jones State Forest! This family-friendly festival brings together nature lovers, wellness enthusiasts, and community members for a day of fun, learning, and connection.

Festival Highlights:

  • Meet ambassador animals up close
  • Guided hikes through forest trails
  • Pollinator garden tours
  • “Walk with a Doc” wellness stroll
  • Yard games & Exhibitor Bingo
  • Moon Tree planting ceremony

Whether you’re a longtime forest lover or just looking for a fun outdoor activity, this is a great opportunity to explore, learn, and celebrate with your community.

Volunteers Needed!

We anticipate 250–800 attendees and would love your help in making this event a success. Volunteers will receive lunch, access to water stations, and a shaded station equipped with a canopy, table, and chairs.

🛠️ Volunteer Roles:

  • Exhibit Booth Stand-ins
    Cover booths during breaks and distribute water/lunches.
  • Native Plant & Tree Giveaway Station
    Hand out native plants and flyers; help restock inventory.
  • Welcome & Information Table Attendant
    Provide lunch tickets, maps, and info packets to attendees.
  • Native Plant Garden Guide
    Lead tours and share tips on native plants and their benefits.

  • Water stations, waste bins, and restrooms available
  • Limited access to electrical outlets and water spigots
  • Lunch provided for all volunteers
