Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador Program – Fall 2022

​The Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador program is a free adult environmental education program. It is offered twice a year with five classes held on weeknights and weekends. As an Ambassador, you will learn about the unique features of the local ecology and all the exciting work that Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC) does. After completing the program, you will have a better understanding of what’s in your backyard, how to protect and preserve the greenway, and how you can get involved in the amazing work that BLC does.

Spring Creek Greenway Ambassador Training Schedule Fall 2022

NOTE:  The October 1st Orientation is mandatory for enrollment in the Ambassador program.

1. Orientation –Bayou Land Conservancy and the Ambassador Program
• Date: Saturday, October 1st, 9:30 am – 11:30 am
• Location: TBD
• Instructor: Karastin Katusin (BLC Community Conservation Manager)

2. Geomorphology and Water Quality – How water shapes the landscape
• Date: Saturday, October 8th from 9:00am – Noon – Field Day
• Location: TBD on the Spring Creek Nature Trail
• Instructor: Aram Derewetzky (PhD Geologist, BLC Trail Crew Member, and Texas Master Naturalist)

3. Conservation Easements – What are CE’s and how we manage them
• Date: Saturday, October 15th from 9:00am – Noon – Field Day
• Location: TBD
• Instructors: Kevin Muraira (BLC Stewardship Manager)

4. Local Flora/Fauna – Native and invasive species in our area
• Date: Saturday, October 22nd from 9:00am – Noon – Field Day
• Location: TBA
• Instructors: Trails as Parks team members

5. Trail Maintenance – How to blaze and maintain low-impact trails
• Date: Saturday, November 5th from 9:00am – Noon – Field Day
• Location: TBD on the Spring Creek Nature Trail
• Instructors: BLC Trail Crew Members Diana Philpot, Tom Philpot, and Roy Cuellar

6. Graduation – Brews and Bayous
• Date: Sunday, December 4th or 11th at 1 pm
• Location: TBA
