Help our group document all the plant/wildlife species in Jasper & Newton counties!
Download iNaturalist on your phone. Make observations and take photos of your findings and post them. They should automatically be included in the “Longleaf Ridge Master Naturalist” project if you are in Jasper or Newton County.
Bring whatever you need to make detailed, scientific observations, i.e. fully charged phone, a ruler to measure how tall a plant is, binoculars if you are looking for birds, a notebook to write down plant features/habitat notes, hiking shoes, and dress for the weather.
Beginner questions are welcomed and encouraged! Need tips for photographing plants/wildlife? Need an expert to give you an opinion on a Plant ID? Need ideas for what books/resources to consult to improve your skills as a naturalist? We can help with that!
We alternate between the Boykin Springs Recreation Area and the E.O. Sieke State Forest. A few new destinations may be added as places become available (i.e. a members’ property). Check for updates via email or contact Laura Clark for more details – firstname.lastname@example.org
