Explore the beautiful Watson Preserve on a wildflower walk led by Joe Liggio. In May the star of the show is Red Milkweed, Butterfly Milkweed, and Tuberous Grasspink. There are many others, including Pale Pitcher Plant, Winecup Mallow, Cherokee Bean, Pink Sundew, Yellow Meadowbeauty, Swamp Azalea, and Redring Milkweed.
Try to arrive by 9:00 — the walk will start by 9:30 am. If you are late, just catch up with the group (It’s only 10 acres). Attendance will count towards Advanced Training for Longleaf Ridge Master Naturalists.
Driving directions: The preserve is off of US-69 in Warren, TX. From US-69 turn east on County Road 4770, drive about half a mile to the bridge and then across the dam. At the top of the hill turn left on CR-4777. About a quarter mile on the left is the entrance to the preserve and a parking area. There are no restroom facilities on the preserve.
