CANCELLED – Azalea Festival – CANCELLED

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint will be the theme of this year's booth at the annual Azalea Festival held at the Jasper County Courthouse square. Volunteer to help set up and man the booth for educational outreach. We will also provide information on new threats to Bald Eagles. Let Donald Fralick know how you can help with this public outreach event.

CANCELLED-Twin Dikes Trail Cleanup-CANCELLED

We will meet at the Twin Dikes Hiking Trail at 2 pm to clean up fallen limbs and repair signs. Bring any tools you might want to use. The Army Corps of Engineers will furnish trash bags as well as rubber gloves for the volunteers. This Bioblitz on Saturday morning, April 4, will be led by Texas Parks and Wildlife biologist, Craig Hensley, as a followup to training received Friday night, April 3. CANCELLED-Watson Preserve Wildflower Walk-CANCELLED

Explore the beautiful Watson Preserve on a wildflower walk led by  Joe Liggio.  Several orchids at the site usually bloom in April. Look for the Rose Pogonia (Pogonia ophioglossoides),  Tuberous Grasspink (Calopogon tuberosus) and Grass-leaved Ladies Tresses (Spiranthes praecox). Birding Classic Big Sit

Counting Bird Species at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park

The Birding Classic's Big Sit will be held Saturday, May 2nd at the observation deck in Martin Dies, Jr. State Park, Walnut Ridge Unit. We will be there from dawn til dusk working in shifts. If you want to register for this event and get a T-shirt, the cost is $20. Just let Claire Boutte know ahead of time. You can show up and participate for service hours without registering.
