Monarch Watch\u2019s tagging program began in 1992. Since then, thousands of people tag monarchs every year and more than 21,500 tags have been recovered from the overwintering sanctuaries in Mexico. Baum\u2019s research also focuses on the effects of land use, management practices, and environmental factors on monarchs and other pollinators.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0David A. He earned his doctorate at Rutgers University, studying fire ecology and the endangered Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow, and later used weather radar to map nocturnal bird migration. David previously directed New Jersey Audubon\u2019s Cape May Bird Observatory. Today, he collaborates internationally on telemetry projects involving songbirds, owls, raptors, hummingbirds, bats, and monarch butterflies. Based in Cape May, New Jersey, he is passionate about translating scientific data into conservation action for wildlife. This is a science-focused expert panel that will tap into both speakers’ expertise and passion for monarchs, conservation, and technology.
