This FREE event for the whole family will feature a wide variety of experts, resources and education all focused on helping  homeowners, ranchers and farmers to protect their land and operate more sustainably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <strong>community event<\/strong> will feature educational programs, workshops, product displays and demonstrations by agricultural, timber, water resource and recreation producers, suppliers and agencies. Classes will be held at the TSUS\/Polk County Center<br>located at 1015 N. HWY 59 Loop (Across the street from the<br>Chamber of Commerce) on every Wednesday from 8:30am-<br>1:00pm. There will be no class on April 1 for Spring Break. The GNP has a lot of invasive Chinese privet, Chinese tallowtree, Japanese honeysuckle, Johnsongrass and other invasive or noxious species which need to be eliminated so native plants can flourish.&nbsp;This is a multi-year project &#8211; we have already made a big difference but much remains to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Activities:<\/strong><br>During the fall and winter, our focus is cutting the privet and tallowtree, then applying herbicide to the stumps to prevent regrowth. Branches with seeds are piled for future burning. During the spring &amp; fall, we will also be addressing other species using a variety of methods. They stay afterward to pack up the supplies which are taken to one of the members homes to be stored until the next event. The committee has a budget to purchase snacks, coffee, tea, paper goods. The budget also has an allowance for some food for social events. Some club members bring donuts and cookies to share which are always appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dates\/Times to volunteer:<\/strong><br>Monthly Chapter Meetings, Training Classes, Christmas Social, and other socials as planned by the chapter.
