TMN chapters adopt specific &#8220;loops&#8221; (driving routes connecting viewing sites) and conduct regular site visits to observe and record wildlife, including Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN), using iNaturalist and eBird. This citizen science effort helps TPWD track wildlife distribution, monitor populations, and update information for nature tourists.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The chapter has adopted two loops within the Prairie and Pineywoods East region of the GTWT. The trail is an abandoned railway that ran from Farmersville through Paris to New Boston. The NETT includes four of the counties in our chapter area (Delta, Lamar, Red River, and Bowie).<\/p>\n<p>The Trail de Paris is the portion of the trail that runs through Paris that was adopted by the City of Paris. This portion is paved and includes many improvements, including a Butterfly Garden that the chapter has renovated and maintains.<\/p>\n<p>Please click the links below to learn more about the NETT and Trail de Paris.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NETT &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/netexastrail.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/netexastrail.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Trail de Paris &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/traildeparistx.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/traildeparistx.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Help is always needed to maintain the trail within our chapter area. The chapter has built an informational kiosk at the Ben Franklin trailhead in Delta County and help is needed to keep that area of the trail cleared. For the Trail de Paris, volunteers may serve on a Courtesy Patrol through the Paris Police Department. The Butterfly Garden is another opportunity to serve by helping keep it planted, watered and weeded. The Red River Chapter is home to five state parks. Many of them host events where the chapter volunteers as a group, such as hosting an outreach booth at a park festival. Notifications of these events are sent through an email from the Volunteer Service Director. Members may also volunteer as individuals by contacting the park directly.<\/p>\n<p>The Volunteer Management System has two opportunities for each of the following parks. One opportunity is for \u201cNatural Resource Management\u201d service, such as clearing trails or other service from which Mother Nature benefits. The other opportunity is for \u201cTraining and Educating Others\u201d, such as helping with interpretive programs or other service where knowledge is imparted to others.
