Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve Eco-Expert: Marine Debris with Katie Swanson

October 19, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Advanced Training Opportunity: Come out to the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve for this month’s Eco-Expert, Katie Swanson, Stewardship Coordinator of the Mission-Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute.

Walk along any beach near Corpus Christi and you will surely find many interesting and delightful things, sand dollar fragments, sea shells, etc.  But, we all know you will also find lots and lots of… trash.  Marine debris is any man-made object that has made it into the marine environment, either intentionally or accidentally.  All different kinds of marine debris can be found along the Texas Coast. In this presentation, potential sources and impacts of marine debris will be discussed, as well as some results of an ongoing NOAA Texas Marine Debris Monitoring Project.

• Walk-ins are welcome on a first come first served basis.
