Whooping Crane Festival in Port Aransas

February 24, 2018

Volunteer Opportunity!  From the Nature Preserve Manager in Port Aransas:

Hello Volunteers!

I’m so excited to be emailing you about our upcoming Whooping Crane Festival! The dates are set (2/22/18-2/25/18) and the Chamber is in full swing finalizing vendors, registration and speakers. https://www.whoopingcranefestival.org/

If you would like to help this year as a volunteer please let me know when and where you’d like to help and if you’d like a t-shirt what size. We have a spreadsheet with time slots for all of the different volunteer roles indoors and out. You can view it here (navigate through jobs with the tabs at the bottom):

After Hurricane Harvey our sites look very different, access is limited but they are all open and we are actively working on the rebuild and recovery process. If you’re on the fence about attending, I have a little motivation for you. Two Whooping Cranes have been exploring the Nature Preserve. They have been spotted for a week and a half and they are being seen all over, the entrance on Hwy 361, the Birding Center and the Pavilion at Charlie’s Pasture. If they are still here for the Festival it’s critical that we have volunteers out to help educate guests and keep the birds from being bothered.

It is incredibly important to us that our visitors return, the Port Aransas economy relies on it. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you either way!

Sincerely,

Colleen
