Friends of Davis Mountains State Park is a Tierra Grande Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist initiative created to provide volunteer assistance on park projects and funding for park initiatives.
Tierra Grande, TMN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving the greater Big Bend Region.
The Mission: To develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the State of Texas.
Dave Mainz charter member of Tierra Grande started The Friends of Davis Mountains State Park initiative in 2012 which continues to be active supporting the park in many ways. One work day morning each week working on various park projects.
Anyone is welcome to turn out and help with park projects. It is always collegial, fun, sometimes a little snarky but very satisfying….”job well done kind of thing”. Learners and experts are all welcome. Work mornings start at 8am, maybe 9 ending 11:30 – 12 or so when the weather is expected to be generally nice.
