USF&W Refuge – Trail Maintenance
August 8 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 8:00 am on day Second of the month, repeating until December 12, 2022
Our Brazoria County National Wildlife Refuge’s walk trails require continuous maintenance to keep them groomed and safe for public use. The intent of this monthly event series is to communicate the need for volunteers and create a volunteer work schedule so that trail maintenance needs are met.
Refuge staff will prioritize when trails are to be scheduled for maintenance. After trail maintenance priorities have been determined and communicated our COT volunteer calendar will be updated changing the event location from TBA to the trail location to be worked on.
Maintenance activities may include cleaning/replacing/installing interpretive signage, mowing, weed trimming, leaf blowing, lopping branches, minor boardwalk repair, gardening, trash collection, etc. Refuge staff will supply mowers, weed trimmers and other equipment as needed. Please feel free to bring your favorite pair of loppers, or other equipment.
Chapter member volunteers should consider bringing work gloves and appropriate footwear/eyewear, hearing protection, long sleeved shirts and pants, insect repellent, drinking water and if interested personal tools and/or equipment to use.
